Q. Why buy a painting that is not already framed?
A. You save a lot of money buy framing yourself. You save shipping costs because frames are heavy and bulky, and you also save enormously on the labor costs. Because you buy the paintings in basic sizes, very nice frames can be bought at many of the Craft Stores for $40 to $100 You can also buy the stretcher frames for only $5 to $9.
Q. How do I put my canvas on the stretcher frames?
A. When fastening the canvas, pressure should be distributed evenly around the stretcher bars to minimize warping due to unequal distribution of pull. Fasten the widest sides first and then the shorter sides. The canvas should feel tight.
Q. How do I mount my stretched canvas into the frame?
A. Small finish nails or staples are used to hold the stretcher bars in the frame. Nail through the frame at a 45` angle into the bars. Nail every 6 - 8 inches.
